Regathering Update

Updated Monday, June 22, 2020

We Are Regathering.

In the last several weeks, we have monitored guidelines and best practices for gathering together again in a safe way. After a significant amount of prayer and preparation, we have made the decision to resume in-person worship services at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church on Sunday, June 28th. We’re committed to creating an environment that meets government recommendations for safety. To make that possible, our weekend services have been redesigned to create a touchless environment that allows for physical distancing. While this includes a reduced capacity and adjusted length of services, we are confident that everyone that chooses to attend will experience a similar sense of community that we have missed for several months. We hope the following information can provide some clarity and comfort as to what you can expect on Sunday, June 28th.

Let’s Work Together to Stay Healthy.

What We’re Doing:

  • All worship services will be a touchless experience, and all high-volume areas will be thoroughly sanitized before, between and after services.
  • Masks are encouraged, but not required. Our Guest Services teams will be wearing masks and would be happy to provide you with one if you would like.
  • We will not be instituting mandatory temperature checks, but our Guest Services team is available to check your temperature if you are concerned.
  • Hand-sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the building.
  • No offering plates will be passed. Instead, there will be an area in the back of the sanctuary for guests who want to give.
  • All seatback materials, papers, and pens will be removed.
  • Water fountains will be closed and no drinks or food will be served in the Gathering.

How You Can Help:

  • If you don’t feel well or have health concerns, please stay home and join us at Mt. Zion Online.
*If you have a health condition that makes you more vulnerable or if you are over the age of 65, we would encourage you to participate from home as well at this time. You can visit the Center for Disease Control’s website to read more about who is at a higher risk.
  • Please wash your hands and use hand sanitizer often.
  • Maintain a distance of six feet between yourself and other guests in public areas as well as restrooms.
  • Please forego hugging and shaking hands with other guests. Even though you may be comfortable with this at this time, there may be others that are not.

Sunday Worship Services.

Sunday Worship Service start times will remain the same with our Traditional Service beginning at 9am and our Modern service beginning at 10:30am. Service end times will be slightly adjusted to allow for more effective physical distancing. Additionally, services will operate at 50% capacity, so attendees will be asked to register online to reserve your spot before attending each week. Registration for our June 28th service will open on Monday, June 22nd.

Before the Service:

  • Please remain in your car until 15 minutes prior to the start of the worship service.
  • Upon entering the building, please make your way into the sanctuary to find your seat (please avoid gathering in groups in public areas outside of the sanctuary).
  • We are asking that everyone choose seating which complies with physical distancing standards (6ft. on all sides).

During the Service:

  • Prayer Partners will be available throughout the service in place of traditional altar calls for the time being.
  • Private prayer areas where adequate space can be given will be made available.
  • No offering plates will be passed. Instead, there will be an area in the back of the sanctuary for guests who want to give.

After the Service:

  • Following the service, if you’d like to continue worshiping through giving, please place your gift in the offering container at the back of the sanctuary. You can also continue to give online by going to
  • Upon dismissal, please move promptly outside the building and avoid gathering in large groups in the foyer.

Children’s Ministry.

For the time being, we will not be offering Children’s Ministry. However, families may sit together in the sanctuary during the Worship Service. For those families that would prefer a more “kid-friendly” environment, Connection Place will be open during our 10:30am Worship Service for a limited number of families (please bring your own seat or blanket). The 10:30am Worship Service will be on screen live for everyone to watch in this space. Families who would like to take advantage of this space will need to register online beginning Monday, June 22nd.

Groups, Classes and Studies.

There will be no Groups, Classes or Studies offered during the Sunday morning hour. However, if you still desire to meet with your group, class or study, you may do so with the following in mind:

  • Groups, Classes or Studies may use Mt. Zion’s facilities after 12pm on Sunday by reservation only.
  • Please reserve meeting space directly with our Office Administrator, Christy Russell by emailing her at

Mt. Zion Online.

We encourage you to continue to attend Mt. Zion Online if you or a family member doesn’t feel well, or if you’re just not ready to attend church in-person yet. You’re part of the Mt. Zion family no matter where you choose to attend!
